Parking spots are becoming just as hot property as apartments these days. Studies back this stuff up, with 2012 research by Eran Ben-Joseph revealing over 30% US city space is taken up by the humble concrete garage. And with over half under-used, that’s a lot of available space.

But, with younger generations choosing public transport over owning a car, these spaces became an attractive playground for the innovative designers.

Christian Sottile, dean of the School of Building Arts at Savannah Collect of Art and Design (SCAD), is one example. SCADpad was born, a series of parking space micro-apartments sharing large communal spaces.
