Here at Title, we have covered plenty of new apartment complexes that have made much of their garden rooftops or landscaped public spaces, but K1 – Melbourne’s latest luxury residence, nestled beside Albert Park lake, and created by Optimus Developments –takes it to a whole new level (pun intended).
Looking like something from a science-fiction utopia, these 13 full-floor units are home to a forest’s worth of trees, “deep planted” (to use the developer’s term) and fully in keeping with its leafy location.
“The surrounds of K1 have been acknowledged and have helped inform the identity of the building,” explains Leon Eyck, director of DE atelier architects, the firm responsible for K1. “The urban streetscape, and especially, the gardens of Albert Park and the mature tree-lined St Kilda Boulevard have inspired the greening of K1.”
As well as views that take in the glinting towers of Melbourne’s CBD, Port Phillip Bay and the leafy boulevards of St Kilda Road, each 175 square metre apartment will boast warm, earthy interiors by Bergman and Co, in collaboration with local artisanal manufacturers, and kitchens that feature Poliform marble bench tops and V-Zug appliances from Switzerland.
And if that isn’t fancy enough for you, you can take your pick from the penthouse – with its 135sqm entertainment terrace, rooftop lap pool and 360-degree views – or the ground floor apartment, which offers a 200sqm landscaped private garden and separate entrance.
These kind of features make it easy to take Optimus Developments CEO Andrew Karpati at his word when he says: “We believe that K1 Residences will set a new benchmark for innovation and elegance in Melbourne.”
Our only question is: are you allowed to climb the trees, too?
