Lema’s latest works of art touch down in Australia
By Charlie Adeline
There are few furniture manufactures as synonymous with the sleek, clean lines of Italian design as Lema – and thanks to Australian distributors, the latest creations by the shelving system specialists are now available down under.
With a history of cutting-edge design and top quality craftmanship that dates back to 1930, Lema is the final word in innovative and sophisticated living pieces, whether that be a cluster of synergistic shelving units or the sheer, functional lines of a simple bench.
Here’s a selection of the latest Lema pieces that caught Title’s eye.
Courtyard shelving system: from $5,495
Described as “a storage system that re-interprets the taste and creativity typical of the industrial design of the 1960s”, Courtyard, designed by Francesco Roti, is an elegant collection of small compartments with an oak top and bronzed metal frame, with a sliding door option, too. Also available as a small table or an element to be used behind a sofa.
Fence bench: $ 2,440
Despite its name, Fence, designed by Christophe Pillet, is actually a multi-purpose bench. With its Canaletto Walnut top and curved steel roods, Fence may look delicate, but has the structure and strength to function as a seat or a table in a bedroom or living area.
Shade dining table: from $8,430
For a show-stopping dining table that will be a conversation piece in itself, Shade, another Francesco Rota design, fits the bill perfectly. With its intricate bronzed metal base and a slender top of heat-treated oak, Shade’s complex structure offers an interplay of light and shadow that gives this stunning piece its name. The tabletop is available in different materials, finishes and sizes.
Picture sideboard: from $7,895
Designed by Cairoli & Donzelli, Picture is a oak and bronze “abstract sideboard” inspired by 1970s aesthetics, and designed to be the focus point in your living or dining space. It’s available in a wide range of colours; a glass shelf and internal drawer can be purchased separately.
