Five fantastic hacks for your micro flat


Those of us living in expensive state capitals may have to accept that we might never be able to afford the apartment of our dreams. But don’t despair, because if you’re the type of person that enjoys a gadget (and who isn’t, really?) gets a kick out of things that surprise people and love a game of Tetris, you might be in the market for a Transformer apartment. You can downsize without leaving the room!

Micro apartments are already a thing in cramped old European city centres, as well as space starved cities in Asia. This first example come from Milan, designed by local gurus PLANAIR.  Of course, Milan is all about fashion and style and Italians have long been at the forefront of clever cabinets. The decor is kind of knotty pine with the knots missing to provide grip to slide, open and move the pieces but this 30 square metres is pretty amazing use of space. The wardrobe is right under the bed, which lifts easily (although it might struggle more under the thickness of mattress I’d want!)
