Luxury apartments with views of Buckingham Palace have broken the record for property prices in London’s Mayfair.

British Land, one of Britain’s biggest developers, has sold 18 of the 34 apartments in its Clarges Mayfair development for a total of just under $400 million, an average of just over $22m each. Clarges Mayfair is close to Bond Street, with upper floors overlooking Green Park and Buckingham Palace.

Four of the flats sold for more than the previous Mayfair record price of $1,000 per sq m, with one penthouse believed to have gone for substantially more than that. The development includes a spa, swimming pool, gym, sauna and private cinema.
